Karrah Leary is a graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Law who joined The McKellar Law Firm in August 2012. Ms. Leary’s primary area of practice is defending those charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI). Her practice areas also include criminal defense and general civil litigation.
Karrah graduated from law school with a concentration in Advocacy and Dispute Resolution. While in law school, Karrah worked as a law clerk for Legal Aid of East Tennessee, where she gained exposure to many areas of civil litigation, including: family law, social security/disability benefits, collections defense, detainer, and elder law matters. At Legal Aid, Karrah had the opportunity to interact with clients as well as negotiate and advocate on their behalf. Karrah participated in UT Law’s Domestic Violence Project, where she assisted clients in obtaining Orders of Protection. She received training in facilitative co-mediation and observed and conducted mediations in General Sessions Court through UT Law’s Mediation Clinic. She was selected to the Hamilton-Burnett Chapter of the American Inns of Court and was a member of Phi Alpha Delta law fraternity.
Karrah graduated magna cum laude from Furman University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 2009. She was a recipient of the Honors and Achiever Scholarships, member of Pi Sigma Alpha political science honor society, and member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
